Bitcoin was founded in 2009 by a mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. This person or team pioneered decentralized digital currency. This global money system was initiated on the idea of eliminating the transaction delay and cost experienced with a middleman or banking institution. The peer-to-peer transactions are confirmed through computers around the world. There will only be 21 million Bitcoin in circulation. Since it is based on mathematics, that number will never change, unlike printed fiat currency. The transactions are transparent for the public to view, but only provided in code to protect personal information and provide anonymity.
